Depth wheels and press wheels both mount on seed drills, but they do different jobs.
The depth limiting wheel sets the limit: it rides beside the furrow and stops the opener from going too deep, which decides seeding depth. Unstable depth means uneven emergence.
The press wheel firms the seedbed: after the seed is covered, it presses the soil so the seed stays in close contact with moisture.
Three things to check when selecting: first, diameter is usually 30-50 cm — a 6-row planter typically pairs with a 40 cm wheel; second, width sets the firmed area — narrow wheels (10-15 cm) suit dense planting, wide wheels (20 cm and above) suit large seeds; third, cross-section affects soil crumbling and ground following — trapezoid-section press wheels are the most adaptable.
We produce hubs and rubber rims for both wheels to match drill models. Send us your machine model and we will match the exact specifications.
